The Truth

Part 6

by Sara, Barbara and Vania

The will, that has been changing over and over again, over the years was read days after in the deceased's office, now Miss Parker's. Mr. Parker left everything to his son, Christopher, and to his daughter, Miss Parker, with the legal custody of Christopher since Mr. Parker's death. And as Miss Parker's predicted before, she was in total command of The Centre. At yet, Raines still tried to say something, but no one understood.

This incident, by itself, wouldn't be enough to make the old Mr. Parker dancing in his grave, but at the end of the will's reading, a figure with a gold mask on his face appeared and claimed the deceased's heritage. But this figure, somewhat bizarre, was ignored by everything and everyone, because she refused to identify herself.

The new chairman of The Centre, Miss Parker, dispensed everyone in her office, but Broots.

"Find me who is this bimbo!!!" Miss Parker said to the bald man.

"Bbbbb-ut how?"

"That's for you to find what, grasshopper!"

"Oh! Ooo-k!"

And with this, a new hunt began, organized by The Centre.

Soon thereafter, Broots (that is only slow talking) got in Miss Parker's office, that asked him:

"Found something?"

"By the way, yes!... Jarod left me a package that revealed to be a lot useful."

"Oh! The genius lab rat strikes again for another round." Miss Parker said sarcastically.

"Yes, and the news are incredible, but I don't know if you're gonna like."

"Spit it out, Broots" She was now demanding.

"You're not gonna believe this!"

"What I cannot believe is that you're still there!"

"It's...hhmm...it's Brigitte!"

"You've got to be kidding me! That bimbo is dead and berried for 2 years now!" Miss Parker couldn't believe what she was hearing.

"At The Centre, nothing is what appears to be" Broots said, handling her an envelop with some files from an hospital.

But, looking at the photos on the files, Miss Parker turned to every colors.

"What is this psycho doing here?"

"Who?"

"Lyle, you moron!" Miss Parker snapped.

"Hm...What?"

"Come over here!" showing him the picture "Near Brigitte! In the car! I would know this face anywhere!"

In this right moment, Miss Parker's cell phone rang.

"Yes?!!!"

"It's good to hear you in such a good mood, Miss Parker!" Jarod said ironically from the other side of the line.

"What do you want?"

"Now, is that the way to thank me for the information on your dear brother?"

"What the hell did you know about this?"

"I know everything Miss Parker, or almost anything...How's Cathy?"

Miss Parker relaxed a little bit. After all, Cathy was both his and hers.

"She's better. Maybe tomorrow I can get her home. Maybe. You knew the truth about her and you didn't tell me?"

"What truth? I don't know what you're talking about!" Jarod said a little confused.

"Don't come on me saying you know nothing, Jarod! You knew she was our daughter!" That's it. She told him!

"What??!!!! Cathy is my daughter?! How's that possible?!" Jarod was completely in shock and that was showing in his voice, without his usual security.

"You remember when I left the boarding school and was at The Centre for a while, waiting for college to start, and we saw each others again..." Miss Parker started with a softness in her voice.

"Yes..."

"Well... I got pregnant and my father send me to some place isolated, where no one could find that the Chairman's daughter was pregnant."

"And...?"

"Cathy was born, but my father told me she died during the labor... And the rest you already know. You never forgive me for not talking to you in the next fifteen years,...until you escaped and I was send to catch you."

"I did?!"

"Now, I'm in command, and I don't have to hunt you never more. Besides, I was thinking on "give you" your freedom and help you, from inside The Centre, to find the truth about your past."

"What?!"

"Jarod, you deserve it. It's the best I can do. And, after all, we have a daughter, and I'm not in a mood to get after her because of you."

"Than you, Megan."

And the call ended. (Broots' face after this revelations is up to you)
