The Truth

Part 5

by Sara, Barbara and Vania

In the T-Board, Miss Parker was still trying to grasp what had happened in the last few hours. After she attacked her father, Mr. Raines arrived, and Broots wisely got out of her way, going to her only to announce Catherine's amelioration. Right before arriving to the Tower, Miss Parker received a phone call from Jarod...comforting her for the loss of her father.

"What?" Miss Parker asked in a cold tone.

"I just called to wish you good luck." She would recognize that voice anywhere.

"Jarod, luck has abandoned me long time ago" and she continued, now more nicely "And, by the way, why do I need her?"

"Well, I thought you're going to need some."

"You're wrong."

"How's Cathy?" Jarod asked impatiently.

"She's doing well. She gets out of the infirmary tomorrow."

"And you?"

"Why do you want to know how I am?"

"Due to the last events and your father's death..."

"I'm fine. but you won't, when The Centre puts its hands on you."

"Keep dreaming, Miss Parker. Bye."

And he disconnected. Miss Parker was perplexed by the fact that he said "Bye". Jarod always ended his calls with some cliché, without giving any signs that the call was going to end. That pissed her off and Jarod knew it. But this time, he didn't want to bother her. Her father had just died and he knew that despite everything, she loved him and it was being difficult for her to go over with all this.

In the T-Board, Miss Parker was still being interrogated. On the other side of the table, she could see Raines and an other man she couldn't identify. They had been asking her questions for more than one hour ago.

"Miss Parker?!" The shadowy side of the table was waiting for an answer.

"Yes?!"

"We unanimously decided to cover this incident and declared it a suicide. Let's say that your father was becoming a little "incommodious".

"Why don't I strange that?"

"It's all...for now."

Miss Parker left the comity and headed to the infirmary to check on Catherine. She was all that matter now. The important thing was for her to recover and to take her of there forever. Miss Parker was never going to leave her there knowing that she was her daughter. She had to take her off there and take her with her. She coulsn't let her grow in the same place she did. That's why she was so cold - loss of love. Miss Parker couldn't let that same thing to happen with Kate. And how was she going to take her off The Centre? They weren't going to let her go freely. And then, there was Jarod. How was she going to tell him that they have a daughter? Probably she wouln't have to worry about it, because he might already know. How was he capable of not tell her a word?

That was something she intended to settle later, because there was still her father's will to be read. She knew he had one and that it was also changed several times, by the way. Maybe all she wanted would be easier after the reading of her father's will. "With some luck, maybe I will be in charge of The Centre" Miss Parker thought "With some luck? Now, I'm sounding like Jarod. I don't need luck. Things happen just like I want them to happen." And she continued to the infirmary, lost in her thoughts.
